Maintenance of fiber sealing gaskets

Feb 19, 2025

Fiber sealing gasket maintenance mainly includes the following aspects:

Regular inspection and replacement: Check the condition of fiber sealing gaskets regularly, and pay attention to whether there are signs of wear, deformation or aging. If cracks, shedding or other damage are found on the surface, they should be replaced in time to prevent leakage or equipment damage. In addition, when the combined heat exchanger reaches the minimum combined length size and still leaks, it also indicates that the sealing gasket needs to be replaced.

Cleaning and maintenance: Clean the fiber sealing gasket and its contact surface regularly to avoid dirt, sediment or other foreign matter affecting the sealing effect. Use appropriate cleaning agents and tools, and avoid using chemicals or tools that are too rough that may damage the fiber material. For rubber sealing gaskets, chemical cleaners can be used to clean the softener and anti-stick coating attached to the gasket, and then a high-pressure blow-off device can be used to remove the residual chemical medium.

Proper installation and adjustment: Make sure that the fiber sealing gasket is not too tight or too loose during installation, and install and adjust it according to the requirements of the equipment manufacturer to ensure the sealing performance. When installing a new gasket, make sure its shape matches the shape of the equipment sealing surface.

‌Check and maintain equipment operating conditions‌: Regularly check the operating conditions of the equipment, including pressure and temperature. If the operating conditions of the equipment change, it may be necessary to re-evaluate the suitability of the fiber gasket and make corresponding adjustments.

‌Training operators and maintenance personnel‌: Train operators and maintenance personnel to understand fiber gaskets.
